Each year, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8th, and during the same week, the construction industry recognises Women in Construction. This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is ‘embrace equity’. Equity is an important concept for a future-proofed workplace. But what can we each do to embrace equity in the workplace?
Today is Earth Day where the world highlights what is being done to address climate issues. Construction currently accounts for about 40% of the world's total CO2 emissions. To reverse this trend, BoKlok believes that the construction industry needs to transition to a more sustainable approach with new innovative construction methods, and materials with low carbon and environmental footprint.
The construction industry is sometimes referred to as being a male-oriented industry. BoKlok Finland is a good example of the opposite where about half of the employees are women. One of them is Country Manager Kati Valtonen. She gives her view of the importance of female role models and encourages more women to apply for jobs in the industry.
This year’s International Women’s Day puts the spotlight on the need to #BreakTheBias to reach equality between the genders. Aija Harju, BoKlok Senior Vice President Human Resources, gives her view on how BoKlok is working to be a leading player in the field.
BoKlok supports Pride and is engaged in World Pride 2021 - a hands-on way of working with diversity and inclusion. Hear the thoughts of Aija Harju, Diversity & Inclusion Leader at BoKlok on Pride, inclusion, and a diverse work environment.
